Utah Transit AuthorityThe Capital Projects department of the
Utah Transit Authority (UTA) is actively seeking a creative, highly
talented Entry-Level Construction Inspector for immediate
employment. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to
demonstrate a basic knowledge of design standards and construction
inspection/oversight-related principles. UTA is proud to provide

the Construction Inspector, you will:
- Provide support and oversight for a variety of
cross-disciplinary engineering and construction projects.
- Conduct on-site construction inspections to ensure contractor
compliance with UTA standards and specifications.
- Perform constructability reviews of pre-construction design
plans.
- Conduct on-site inspections of third-party utilities
construction activities within UTA right-of-way.
- Ensure compliance with permit-approved materials and methods
during third-party utilities construction.
- Coordinate quality assurance inspections and materials testing
during construction.
- Manage material certification documentation and daily
inspection files.
- Attend internal and external project meetings.
- This is an entry-level construction inspection position.MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONSExperience/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in quality and/or construction
inspection oversight. 1-3 years of experience in rail inspection
preferred.
- High School Diploma required.
- Associate's Degree in Construction Management, Construction
Technology, Building Inspection, or another applicable degree.
- UDOT CITP certified is a plus.
- Must have a valid Utah drivers license with no more than four
moving violations in the past three years; or, if a non-driver,
must be able to travel efficiently by another means to and from
varied locations within UTAs service area. No applicant may have
more than one violation of driving under the influence of alcohol
and/or drugs within the last ten years.Knowledge:
- Spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software are
preferred.
- Familiarity with Procore project management software.
- Basic knowledge of construction management concepts/techniques
such as critical path, scheduling, estimating, understanding
construction plans, etc.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Project or other related
scheduling software.
- Familiarity with modern office methods, practices, procedures,
equipment, filing systems, business letter writing, and competent
in correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and
arithmetic.
- Knowledgeable of materials testing processes commonly used in
construction for testing soil compaction, concrete, and HMA.Skills:
- Creative and strong problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Effective communication, both verbally and in
writing.Abilities:
- Quality-minded, self-motivated, and resourceful.
- Collaborative and able to work effectively in a team
environment.
- Flexibility to learn industry-related concepts, software, and
methods.
- Ability to communicate confidently and effectively with
multi-disciplinary construction trades and engineers.
- Maintain effective work relations with those encountered in the
course of employment.
