Rantec is an upper-tier designer and manufacturer of power supplies for the military and aerospace markets. We are an engineering-based company, with expertise in all aspects of power supply design, manufacturing and test.

Scope

Under general supervision, performs moderately complex technical functions to ensure products meet specifications.  Responsibilities will include: Power supply assembly tasks in accordance with workmanship standards; Inspection of product in accordance with industry standard criteria; set-up, alignment, testing and limited product troubleshooting in accordance with test documentation.  Position will also have some minor tasks with material kitting, MRP transactions, and shipping/receiving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work from and Interpret a Variety of Documentation Must be able to read, interpret and follow work/assembly instructions, assembly drawings, schematics, Manufacturing Routings, Operation Instructions and Acceptance Test Procedures.  Be able to recognize deficiencies in assembly documentation and recommend changes.   
  • Maintain Solder Skills Training Maintain qualification for soldering through successful completion of ongoing training (J-STD-001) and demonstration of soldering skills.
  • Use Torque Tools in Assembly Use torque tools properly, recognize and adjust for proper torque value.
  • Conformal Coating and Surface Finish Touch-Up Select appropriate conformal coating and surface finish materials and perform touch-up of coatings and finishes according to procedures.
  • Utilize Test Equipment Set-up and operate test chambers and a variety of electronic test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators and automatic test equipment.
  • Perform Acceptance Testing of Power Supplies Perform bench testing and automatic testing of power supplies using a variety of test equipment and in accordance with Acceptance Test Procedures. 
  • Troubleshooting Perform limited failure diagnosis for power supply failures at any assembly level or point in the test sequence.
  • Inspection - Performs assigned inspection duties (IPC-610) to assure compliance with requirements.  Performs primarily in-process inspection, and when necessary performs receiving and/or final inspection to assure product compliance with quality assurance standards and applicable specifications. 
  • Basic Material Handling tasks Relocate production WIP or raw material into different areas.  Complete physical or digital transactions (MRB or Alliance) on a daily or weekly basis.  Complete kitting tasks for production.
  • Basic Receive Materials:  Unpackage materials and verify contents against documentation.  Transfer material to appropriate bins or electro-static containers and forward to Receiving Inspection Receive materials from Receiving Inspection and Manufacturing, provide proper storage.
  • Basic Ship Materials:  Package materials and product according to procedures or best commercial practices.  Prepare relevant shipping documents and labels as required.  Perform work order receipts of product into MRP/ERP system prior to shipment. Input shipping data into MRP system to generate Sales-Order-Packing List. 
  • Comply with Safety Procedures Follow safety rules, operate equipment according to safety instructions, use personal protective equipment as directed, comply with requirements for the safe use, storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts, as required.
  • Ability to work in a safe professional manner adhering to all regulatory requirements including OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations.
  • As the Companys success relies on the productivity of our team and adherence to customer product schedules, an essential function of this position is the ability to arrive to work on-time, and work each day, as scheduled
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

   Qualification Requirements:

This position requires access to our export-controlled commodities, technical data, technology and services.  These items are restricted under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to U.S. Citizens, Lawful Permanent Residents of the U.S. and properly licensed foreign persons.  Therefore, employment is contingent on compliance with ITAR regulations and successfully obtaining and maintaining the necessary export authorization license from the U.S. Department of Commerces Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Department of States Office of Defense Trade Controls, or other applicable government agency.

Education and Experience

  • Electronics training equivalent to two years technical trade school, AA in electronics, or military technical school. 
  • Trainable to electrical and mechanical inspection requirements, including J-STD-001, IPC-610 and MIL-STDs.
  • 2 to 4 years of related work experience.
  • Strong mathematical abilities through intermediate algebra.
  • Practical understanding of the basic laws of electricity: Ohms Law, etc.
  • Computer skills to support timekeeping, accessing data in MRP/ERP system, test report generation and for controlling automatic test equipment.  Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Access database.
  • Mechanical ability to operate test equipment and manual dexterity to effectively use hand tools while performing tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced situation under production schedules.
  • Strong work ethic and organizational skills to meet demands of fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on solid reasoning regarding acceptance/rejection of material.

  • Work within a manufacturing environment, including moderate noise and chemical odors
  • Moving between sitting, standing and walking
  • Perform microscopic and visual inspection at a seated inspection bench/station
  • Manual dexterity to effectively use hand tools while performing assembly tasks.
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds periodically throughout the day
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus, with correction, if needed, to perform hand soldering and wiring of assemblies.
  • Travel for training 10%
